It was built in the Western Zhou Dynasty XuanWang Period (827 BC - 782 BC). Pingyao is an outstanding example of the Chinese cities in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the development of Chinese history, Pingyao shows an unusually complete picture of the Han cultural, social, economic and religious development.      Pingyao is caled as one of “the four best preserved ancient city” and the “World Cultural Heritage”.      In 2009, Pingyao was honoured as the most complete ancient county among extant Chinese counties, and became the “National 5A Tourist Attractions”on July 13, 2015.
